Ms. Aminath Eenas

Aminath Eenas was appointed as a Member of the Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) in August 2015 and is currently the President of the Commission. She graduated with a BA in Social Work at Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Western Australia in 2001 and a MA in Criminology- Crime, Law and Society at University of Manchester in Manchester, UK in 2005.

After graduating she worked as a Counselor in the Ministry of Gender, Family Development and Social Security before getting promoted as the Director at the ministry. Inclusive of becoming the Program Manager for the Juvenile Justice Unit at the Attorney General's Office as a UNICEF consultant twice, she has also come into the position of Chief Executive Officer at Family Protection Authority of Maldives.

Having worked over 15 years in the sector of Child Rights and Protection and Women's Rights and Protection, she has orchestrated awareness programs in Women's Rights and Child Rights issues, developed and conducted a correctional program for juveniles, established national reports and reports for UNICEF regarding child rights and has experience working with perpetrators.

With passion and firmness of purpose she works diligently and genuinely in advocating and protecting human rights in the Maldives.
