How to lodge a Complain



There are a number of ways that you can lodge your complaint with the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives:

* Toll Free Service - 1424
* In writing
* Hard copy complaint form
* By email
* By Fax


A complaint can be made in Dhivehi or English. We can also help you write out your complaint if you need assistance.

Your complaint should include the following information.

* your name, address and telephone number
* who you are complaining about and their contact details
* what happened to you, when it happened and who was involved
* what law you think has been breached and how
* whether you have made a complaint anywhere else and, if so, what happened

Toll Free Service - 1424

Human Rights commissions helpline is a toll free number accessible to all those who wishes to make a complaint to the commission. This number will be available from morning 08:00am till 12:00 at night. Calls made after 12:00pm will be attended by a complaints officer the following day. The main objective of introducing this number is to provide an easier and faster way to report human rights violations. Any case of human rights violations, or an administrative code which is believed to be infringing human rights or a case where a government authority or a private organization violates a human right can be reported to HRCM via this number.

Put your complaint in writing, along with any relevant documents, and post to:

You must include your name, address and, if possible, a phone number so we can contact you. We can not accept your complaint unless you include your name and address.

If you would like the Commission to post a complaint form to you, send us an email and include your name and postal address.

Send an email outlining your complaint to info@hrcm.org.mv

If you are concerned about providing your complaint by email or using the online complaint form, you can download the complaint form and post your complaint to the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives at the address listed above.

By Fax

A written complaint complaint can also be faxed directly to the commission along with the complaints form to the following number. The complainant made via fax will be dealt quickly and effectively as we can while maintaining confidentiality and keeping you informed of progress.

Complaints received via fax without contact information (name, address, contact no) will not be accepted.
