HRCM Commences Human Rights Awareness workshop in South Ari Atoll
The Human Rights Commission of the Maldives has begun its human rights awareness workshop in South Ari Atoll today. HRCM member Mr. Ahmed Abdul Kareem addressed the participants at a function held to mark the opening of the workshop this morning in Mahibadhoo.
HRCM holds press conference
Human Rights Commission of the Maldives held a press conference today to launch the human rights awareness video and audio spots prepared by the Commission. At the function the Commission also released the fifth edition of the Commission newsletter 'Haqqu' and also gave information to the media about the current activities of the Commission as well as some issues of concern to HRCM.
HRCM Conducts Workshop in Vaavu and Meemu Atolls
The Human Rights Commission of the Maldives has conducted a human rights awareness workshop for Vaavu and Meemu Atoll. The training held from 29 September 2009 to 1 October 2009, was facilitated by Commission members and staff.
HRCM Releases Its Report On The Employment Situation In The Maldives
The Human Rights Commission of the Maldives has released its report on the employment situation in the country titled 'The Rapid Assessment of the Employment Situation in the Maldives'. At a function held to publicize the report the President of HRCM Mr. Ahmed Saleem stated that at the end of 2008, the most number of complaints filed at the Commission were regarding issues related to employment, which comprises 23.69% of total number of complaints.
HHRCM organizes lecture for MP's in collaboration with APF
The Human Rights Commission of the Maldives in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Forum for National Human Rights Institutions (APF) and the People's Majlis has conducted a lecture for the members of the Parliament on Role of Parliamentarians in Protecting and Promoting Human Rights.
