International Women’s Day Activities

Today is International women’s Day. This day is marked around the world to celebrate the political, social and economic empowerment of women, and to reassert women’s rights worldwide. This year’s theme for the day is “Equal rights, equal opportunities: Progress for all”.

Human Rights Commission of the Maldives will be joining with ‘Hand in Hand’, a human rights NGO in celebrating this day by having a human rights stall where information would be disseminated on women’s rights and HRCM’s involvement in women’s rights. HRCM is also active in supporting the initiatives taken by Maldives Police Service to mark Women’s Day in Maldives. Staff and Commission Members are involved in various activities such as, Panel Discussions, Debates, interviews and live television shows, conducted to mark this day.
