HRCM holds News Conference

Human Rights Commission of the Maldives held a news conference today. In this news conference the President of HRCM Mr. Ahmed Saleem expressed his concern about the current political situation in the country.
He emphasised that during this process of establishing a democratic system, serious issues are arising, which need to be addressed through constructive dialogue. Hence he called upon all the political parties to hold discussions on these serious issues concerning the nation today.
Speaking at the news conference the Vice President of HRCM Mr. Mohamed Zahid highlighted on the work being carried out to conduct the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the Maldives and requested all the media to create public awareness about this process. He also spoke about the tsunami victims’ current situation analysis being carried out in different parts of the country by HRCM teams. The sixth edition of the Commission’s newsletter 'Haqqu' was also released at the news conference.
