HRCM Concludes its Media Training Workshop

The Human Rights Commission of Maldives in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Forum for National Human Rights Institutions concluded its media training workshop today.
The training was conducted by Dr. Judy McGregor, EEO Commissioner with the New Zealand Human Rights Commission and Mr. James IIiffe, Public Affairs consultant to the Asia Pacific Forum and the Australian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.
The programme was held over two sessions split over 5 days where the initial sessions addressed practical issues focusing on how media works strategic engagement with the media, partner organizations and the civil society.
Emphasis was also laid on media evaluations and monitoring the impact on target audiences. The later session were focused around strategic planning in order to identify media and communication requirements of specific projects currently being undertaken by the HRCM.
Partner NGO’s and local media agencies were invited to attend specific sessions concerning community education activities and facilitated dialogues with local journalists and editors respectively.
