HRCM publicizes report on ETCC

Following a monitoring visit to the Education and Training Center for Children in K. Maafushi, the Human Rights Commission of The Maldives has issued a report on 28 July 2008.

The purpose of this visit was to assess the general condition of the institute and also to review the extent to which the recommendations proposed by this commission have been implemented subsequent to its initial visit to the center on 1 April 2004.

The condition of ETCC was found to be generally good and the education provided at the school seemed to be rather prolific and as a result some children who were educated and trained at the institute have been employed at various establishments.

Consequently HRCM in this report, forwarded to the concerned authorities, have put forward further recommendations that the commission believes is obligatory for the development and enhancement of the services and conditions of ETCC.
