Human Rights Commission observes World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse

Human Rights Commission of the Maldives organized an event to observe the World day for Prevention of Child Abuse on the 19th of November 2012.

The main purpose of this event which consists of a forum theater and a discussion was to contribute to the creation of a culture of prevention of child abuse by raising awareness through a participative and thought provoking process. Questions and queries from the public regarding the topics were addressed by a panel of experts. The Panellists were Dr. Ibrahim Zakariya Moosa, Clinical Psychologist Ms. Afiya Ali, President of the Commission Mariyam Azra Ahmed, and Vice President Ahmed Tholal. In addition, the forum theater addressed issues faced by children in today’s society.

The event took place in Kalafaanu School on 19th November 2012 at 20:00 hours. This is the third year in a row that the Commission organized an event to observe World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse.
