Human Rights Workshops in Th. And L. Atoll

Human Rights Commission of the Maldives is conducting two human rights training workshops as part of the serial workshops targeting the Schools and education sector with the objective of creating a human rights culture in the Maldives.

The workshop in Thaa Atoll was conducted in Th.Thimarafushi from 17 -19 July, and another one for Schools of Laamu Atoll will be conducted from 20 – 22 July in L.Fonadhoo.

Although they are being conducted in a single Island from each atoll, participants from all Schools of the respective atoll will be attending the workshops. From amongst schools heads, leading teachers and senior staff of the Schools; 26 participants from Laamu and 32 from Thaa atoll will be taking part. The workshops will be facilitated by human rights educators of HRCM.

HRCM have previously conducted similar workshops for Schools in Male’, Shaviyani Atoll and Noonu Atoll. The key areas discussed in these workshops include general info on human rights, information about HRCM, constitutional rights, education and human rights, international conventions on women and children’s rights and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
